9:00 PM - RHYTHMICON
Victoria’s resident sound system selector Rhythmicon started his
record collection in the late 90’s; spending near two decades forming
his unique style as a DJ and producer. Since then he has been at the
core of the bass music scene on Vancouver Island; hosting club nights
(notably as a major contributor to the Sub|Division series), radio
shows, and collaborating with the community to build and support the
scene.
Rhythmicon has shared the stage with taste makers like Zed Bias,
Mumdance, Pinch, Kahn, Sam Binga, Breakage, and Caspa. He received DJ
support on his production work from the legendary Skream. His list of
residencies include Lucky Bar, Hush Nightclub, and The Reef. He has
been a favourite at music festivals such as Bass Coast, Ska Fest, Tall
Tree, Rifflandia, Diversity and Soundwave.
Rhythmicon’s sets span across the urban underground styles of grime,
dubstep, drum & bass, jungle, footwork, UK garage and funky.
10:00 PM - LOOTING B2B SCREE RUNNING
Looting is Andrew Bourcet, a Canadian producer, DJ and curator
formerly known as Calmpound. Beginning music at 12 with singing,
guitar, percussion as well as developing a deep interest in the
collection and research of music and sound.
Fully embracing his love for experimental music, 90s jungle, early
2000s dubstep, ambient, avant-garde and electro-acoustic music by
beginning the “Calmpound” project around 2006. Making a unique brand
of experimental club and ambient music and releasing it with small
Canadian labels. Andrew rebranded and debuted the Looting project with
a performance at Shambhala music festival 2019 and released the album
“Taqdim” in early 2020. Since the pandemic, Andrew has continued to
work fervently on music and live projects, and is one of the founding
members of the Resonance Collective alonside Scree Running and Ænniæ.
Whether pushing laptops to hi freq fan whir while creating sharply
detailed and idiosyncratically arranged electronic music, or coaxing
pre-dawn dance floors to lysergic meltdown with genre-agnostic &
future facing dance-music, Scree Running (Matt Howells) works with the
primordial matter of sound, tweaking its patterns into the DNA of
audio worlds yet to condensate.Scree Running’s tracks have found homes
on dance floors and radio shows worldwide, with support from platforms
such as NTS, Keep Hush, Subtle Radio, and B Side Radio.
With releases and remixes on Pleasure Management, a future-facing
label founded in 2024 alongside Looting and Pablo Gun, and Vancouver’s
NAGA label, their sound continues to expand and push towards the big
now. As a core member of ‘Victoria’s’ Resonance Collective, Scree
Running works with other like minded artists to help shape the sound
and ethos of the ever present underground.
12:00 MIDNIGHT - HOT SLEEPERS LIVE
After years of collaboration across the Atlantic Ocean, Hrdvsion and
efemme have finally consolidated their efforts in the same city,
bringing their unique talents together face to face. The past year has
seen them working tirelessly in their newly unified studio,
transforming chaos into precision.
As “Hot Sleepers,” they are dedicated to crafting high energy dance
music designed for the club while also sneaking deep into the corners
of your mind. Their live setup is an intricate fusion of computer and
modular synthesizers, producing music with a theme of focused
expression, ensuring that every creation resonates with authenticity
and depth.
01:00 AM - ÆNNIÆ
Ænniæ's ability to float across genres with ease, and mix together
spellbinding sounds is second-to-none. Late nights are her playground
and we’re excited to have Ænniæ to close out our Saturday night again
this year.
Tickets are $20 early bird, $25 advance, $30 at the door. Last year
all three Wonderment night events were at capacity, so get your
tickets early to ensure entry.
