Abbie Louise | Airwave YGK Interview

CFRC 101.9 FM welcomed its third Airwave YGK Musician-in-Residence, Abbie Louise to its studios for a live performance on February 9th 2025.

Abbie is a a multidisciplinary Kingston-based R&B/Indie Folk solo artist who believes music and poetry are valuable media for processing and embracing the human experience while also healing from the deep wounds it brings. Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Abbie has embraced Kingston's vibrant music scene which nurtured a feeling of belonging for her within it, especially through her performances at Broom Factory, Elm Cafe, Musiikki, The Buckle, and more.

During her residency, Abbie used CFRC’s studios to create new vocal and instrumental compositions for an EP using acoustic guitar, baritone ukelele, and sound-bowls, incorporating sound healing through vocals, instrumentals and spoken word to shift energy, redirect focus, and to foster mindfulness and healing. This aligns with the conceptual theme of Abbie's forthcoming EP would include the experience of navigating the world through a creative, conscious, and compassionate lens which sees all life as interconnected. Her time in studio culminated in this beautiful live-to-air performance.

This video captures a lovely conversation Abbie had with CFRC's Airwave YGK Project Assistant Joseph Guido. Learn more about this fantastic musician and what's coming up for her!

CFRC Airwave YGK Musician Residencies are made possible through the generous support of the City of Kingston and Kingston Arts Council.
