About

Antidoping

Label: Reggae
since circa 1992
Antidoping is a Mexican band from Coyoacán, Mexico City, founded by brothers Manuel and Pedro Apodaca in 1992. Considered one of Mexico's great reggae groups and one of the most important groups of the genre in Latin America, Antidoping is a linchpin in the Razteca movement.

Living in the Caribbean gave Antidoping the opportunity to feel the mystical magic and social commitment of the Rasta music that for four years they practiced and recreated themselves with covers of the best Jamaican reggae groups in projects from different places, organically giving rise to what the world knows today as Antidoping.

Throughout their career they have released seven albums that have become classics of reggae in Spanish and popular Mexican music. Their most recent record Knock Out was mixed by Jamaican reggae legend Errol Brown, engineer Bob Marley, Prophetic Culture, Alborosie, Culture, Dennis Brown, Alton Ellis, among many others.

Antidoping was a direct participant of the Razteca Movement, a unifier of the reggae groups in Mexico. A band that started playing in the streets of Coyoacán and since then have toured much of the Mexican Republic, some countries in Latin America, the United States, Canada and Europe.

The music of Antidoping combines elements, roots and forms of the cultural mosaic of the city, with the rhythm and flavour of the Rastafarian movement to create an alternative within the expressions of Mexico's music scene. Offering those who listen to it, the possibility of becoming sensitized in body, mind and soul through a fresh and committed reggae, affirming their convictions towards respect, fun, peace.
With this formula Antidoping has conquered the hearts of many followers around the world throughout more than three decades of their powerful career.
