Event Description

As a 10-time Grammy winner, Bobby McFerrin is a beloved vocal artist with a gift for presenting his music in uniquely uplifting ways. Although known by most as the “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” guy, McFerrin continues to blur the boundaries between pop music and high art as he creatively explores his muse. His father, an operatic baritone and the first African-American man to sing at The Met in New York City, was also a renowned interpreter of black spirituals. That imposing legacy resonates on McFerrin’s new recording, spirityouall. His first release dedicated entirely to spiritual music contains tunes ranging from Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released” to classic spirituals like “Swing Low Sweet Chariot,” and five originals.
