Event Description

L’omelette weaves contemporary, colourful, honest, genre-fluid tapestries. The Calgary art-rockers dart between prog and new-wave rock rhythms and synth- and sax-led dance pop, tethered by commanding melodies and concrete concepts.

Meg Benedict’s vocal, sax and synth stylings are underpinned by guitarist Alex Klipper’s thoughtful and driving riffs; Matthew Lowe’s infectiously melodic bass lines; and Peter Cormier’s diamond-cut drumming and backup vocals. With them, there’s always something vivacious, heady, danceable and thought-provoking to chew on.

il faut qu’on bouge (We’ve Gotta Move) pokes at the tender parts of humanity, to a groove. Lyricist Meg Thompson asks inclusive and empowering questions about our society's wellness through edgy lenses: she comments on fast fashion, body image, the rejection of socioeconomic pressures, and the delicate relationships between self and others. These themes are encapsulated in punchy synth and guitar-driven dance-pop and post-punk numbers. The record was produced and mixed by Calgarian independent engineer and artist Taylor Cochrane at 36? Studios in Calgary, AB / Mohkínstsis, and was released March 21, 2025.

L’omelette reminds their listeners that they're not alone in their strange experience. To discuss the raw parts of life in an uplifting and socialized way is one of the best things that can be done to celebrate being human. The group’s collaborative compositions never shy away from pain and presence, telling stories that aim to connect and affirm.

The band has achieved success at festivals in western Canada, notably having played showcase and workshop sets at Calgary Folk Fest 2024, and making appearances at Alberta’s South Country Fair and Waynestock, and BC’s REVY.Live Outside Concert Series. In May 2025 they make their debut appearance at Toronto’s Departure festival.
