Event Description
From Lisboa, Portugal,
Minta & The Brook Trout make music about everyday things, like breakups and furniture.
Minta & The Brook Trout are a folk-indie pop group from Portugal. Their six day tour of Ontario and Quebec includes openers Toronto songwriters Sarah Greene and Paul Kolinski. Their new album, Stretch, their fifth, is the most international to date and features Shelley Short (US) and The Weather Station (CA) as guest singers. Minta are touring as a duo (Francisca Cortesão and Mariana Ricardo).
Sarah Greene is a Toronto based poet and singer/songwriter. Her songs are intimate, concise and idiosyncratically classic. Working in warm, soulful folk-rock ballads, Greene examines loneliness, vulnerability, and the tugging poles of freedom and attachment in her songs. She released two recordings as the frontwoman of mid-2000s Toronto indie/alt-country band the Pickups before putting out her debut solo album, Toronto Blues, in 2011. Her sophomore album, Being Real, is due out this fall.
Paul Kolinski is a Toronto-based musician and guitarist. He performs with his band Heavy On The Willie.
